About Us

The Rotary motto is “Service above Self”.

Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

Since the Owen Sound Rotary Club’s charter in 1920 our focus has been the betterment of our community.  Our Club is currently making the world a better place to live through the following projects:
  • Camp Presqu’ile – the main benefactor of our Club’s efforts, Camp Presqu’ile is a high quality overnight summer camping experience for all children to enjoy
  • Rotary Youth Exchange – allows our local students the opportunity to spend a year abroad for the purpose of promoting world understanding, peace and goodwill
  • $75,000  donation to the YMCA Regional Recreation Centre Campaign
  • Polio plus – Rotary International’s world-wide polio eradication effort
  • In the Town of Cabarete, in the Dominican Republic, we built a wall around an independent school property to protect the children
  • Contributed to the “Hand Up” program in Cameroon to help peasant farmers help themselves, including: disease prevention and treatment, water sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development
The members of the Owen Sound Rotary Club are women and men who work as volunteers.  Club members represent a cross-section of local business and professional community leaders; we are non-political, non-religious and open to all cultures, races and creeds.  We meet weekly on Mondays at noon at the Inn on the Bay in Owen Sound.  WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS.
